Pannier Rack - Yamaha

Style

You’ve all asked who makes the best pannier racks, and we finally have that answer for you. It’s Outback Motortek.

Their racks are beautifully engineered, super rugged, and installation is a breeze. Constructed of mild steel, they bend rather than crack during a crash. In the unlikely event that you do manage to break one, it’s easy to find a shop that can weld mild steel – no matter where in the world you go down.

Mosko’s Outback Motortek racks come finished in long-lasting black powder coat, and the best part is that they’re fully compatible with our Backcountry and Scout panniers.

Not tested in adventure yet

It looks good. And very massive and durable. The only thing I saw so far it fits a little tight on the exhaust.

My genuine opinion

The whole with the Backcountry 25L Panniers looks great, perhaps a bit too wide on the left side (opposite the exhaust) if left cleared e.g. without the Rotopax.
Yet, the end bottom Puk and the relevant screw, on the exhaust side, is only 5 mm distant from the exhaust!
I am pretty sure that in case of dropping, regardless the violence of the shock, the bike the puck/screw will inevitably scratch the exhaust.
Moreover, because of that, the mounting wedge cannot be positioned on the center of the rack but all the way forward.
I think it is a design mismatch of Outback Motortek whereby the Rack has not really been designed for the T700 but luckily adapted from an existing one.
One solution could to have a sidelong (oblique) frame on the bottom part of the rack to move up the puck away from the exhaust.
Should Outback Motortek designed a dedicated Panniers Rack for the T700 the space between the rack on the left side (opposite the exhaust) would have been considerable less than it is while mounted.
Please, don’t take me wrong, I am just providing my genuine opinion & facts as a former mechanically engineer.
