Here in the Pacific Northwet, we take waterproofing seriously. The Hood is the only waterproof, quick-access tank bag on the market. There are no zippers to jam (and eventually fail), no roll-tops to unfurl. Just unclip the buckle, flip the lid, and you’re in. It’s the easiest-access waterproof tank bag we’ve ever used. It includes two handy internal organizers for little things, like charging cables and earplugs.
For 2020, we refreshed the proven design of the Hood with a sleek Hypalon MOLLE panel, upgraded interior materials, and the gray color option - which goes great with our Navigator Cell Phone Pocket.
We spent two+ years developing the Hood, testing every type of waterproof closure we could find. We needed something simple and strong enough for a tank bag, that will continue working even after thousands of uses in dusty, abusive conditions. We even spent 6 months experimenting with kayak hatches. The hatches turned out to be a bit of a rabbit hole, but they gave us the idea for the Hood.
The Hood achieves it’s waterproofing through a welded-seam, waterproof clamshell lid (we call it a ‘hood’) that rests on an equally waterproof, welded-seam base. The hood pushes against a strip of piping that runs 360 degrees around the base. There’s a rain gutter just below the piping that stops any water that tries to work its way up the sides. We even tested it with a pressure washer at the car wash, and everything inside stayed bone-dry!
The inside of the Hood features a large, open main compartment, with two removable sewn-seam wallets for things like cables, headphones, batteries, and credit cards. There’s a charging cable and headphone pass-through port, so you can connect your phone and electronic accessories directly to the battery.
On the top of the Hood you’ll find plenty of MOLLE webbing, which fits the included MOLLE compatible waterproof map pocket. If you don’t need the map pocket, the MOLLE webbing also works great for a cell phone case, multi tool, or first aid kit instead.
The first person to take a selfie of the Hood on their bike in front of Mt. Hood while wearing a Hoodie gets a free Mosko tee!
Product Creation at Mosko is an effort born of necessity. Everyone on our team rides – and time on the trail translates to an innovative, always improving product line. Crafting gear that will outperform in even the most harsh riding conditions means we make no compromise, ever.
I’ve been riding with Mosko bags for years now, on long off-road trips like the Continental Divide, and they hold up very well despite the worst abuses: bad weather, crashes, total lack of maintenance… They also keep you safer when you crash (soft bags vs hard luggage) and the bags are super easy to empty when you reach your destination thanks to the removable waterproof pockets. A must, that many companies tried to copy without getting close to the original! As for the Hood Tank bag, it’s on my Tenere T7 and taking the same kind of abuse than described above. Still looks brand new, doesn't move on the tank, and contains my camera and a few chargers. Can't ride without it!
The first tank bag I received had a faulty seam. But I could replace it without any problems and the tank bag is great.
Hood Tank Bag (V1.2)
Well made/ quality build, and did the job perfectly on the IBDR. It really stays in place on the tank of my big Adv bike (r12500gs) quick delivery to Norcal was a bonus. My only negative comment is that it’s a little high and hits my crotch when I’m on the pegs. Not a huge deal but worth consideration.
This tank bag is everything Mosko promised. I love the organizational features and the pass through ports. It installed easily on my G310GS in about 15 minutes.I am rapidly becoming a fan of Mosko products as they are well thought out and appear very well made.
