We set out to design a system that weighs less than the Backcountry 35 - which is built for extreme offroad durability and long distance trips - but preserves the functionality of certain core features, such as a positive attachment to the bike, two layers of crash protection, and an extremely easy on/off mounting system.
There are so many 'over-the-seat' saddlebag systems already on the market, and we didn’t want to design another one of those, so we struck out in a totally different direction. The new Scout 25 firmly attaches to the bike, with a laser-cut aluminum plate that bolts to virtually any pannier rack. A large beavertail harness - made from extremely abrasion-resistant materials like hypalon, ballistic nylon, and polyurethane - connects to the plate, and cinches tight to the bike, holding a removable waterproof drybag in place.
When you reach your destination for the night, simply un-clip the top of the harness and pull out the drybag. A totally new type of quick release. It’s so easy!
The beavertail makes for a handy quick-stash spot for wet & dirty items, and it also protects the drybag in a fall. You get all the benefits of two-layer crash protection, plus the ability to replace damaged parts as components without replacing an entire bag. We eliminated all unnecessary material to keep the Scout’s weight as low as possible. It weighs a tiny bit more than traditional over-the-seat systems (usually a pound or two) due to the aluminum backing and PE armor, but it’s also a whole lot more durable, and so much easier to use.
The Scout’s 100% waterproof welded-seam drybags feature crushable backpack straps, so they can serve double-duty as airline carry-on or emergency hike-out bags. The backpack straps are also handy for getting everything up to your room in a single trip. Each drybag has a tough armor backing, which not only helps it retain its shape, but also protects drybag from abrading on the bike and mounting hardware. The drybags also have a water-resistant front zippered pocket.
For carrying tools and fluids, expanding capacity, or adding a quick-stash spot for snacks and tubes, we offer an optional MOLLE attachment kit that gets sandwiched between the removable drybag and the mounting frame. This is a great place to store your water and extra fuel, or stash a MOLLE compatible multi-tool, a fixed blade knife, a hatchet, or a spade.
With the drybags removed, the empty harness can be cinched tight to the bike, so it won’t flap around in the wind. If you’re out & about and find yourself in need of a handy spot to tuck a small bag, jacket, or groceries, they work perfect for that as well.

Cutout Pannier Rack Note: Bikes with stock racks and a pannier exhaust cutout (like the R1200GSA or F800GSA for example) require an additional adapter. Check the 'Hardware & Parts' section of our site, or email us with questions.
This kit includes 2 side pannier bags, and all the hardware you need to install on your bike.

“100% pleased with the Scout paniers! These fit my 690 Enduro great. They compress nice and tight, adapting to various load volumes just way I hoped they would. Quality is top shelf.”
Have been on 2 short rides with them so far and couldn’t be happier.
When I was looking for a bag for my BMW R nine T scrambler, I didn't want something that looked like it was from Gucci. No cafe racer, no euro style, but a bag that would look great on the bike and perform. Most importantly, perform. On a daily basis I commute with the bike, so wanted something that would work well around town. But I am also on a backcountry search and rescue team, so wanted something that would work equally well miles from civilization. The Scout 25 is the perfect solution. Incredibly well made, easy to use, durable, expandable, compressible, it has easily fit everything I have thrown at it so far. The boxes on my R1150R didn't even have the capacity (and definitely not the flexibility) that this bag has. So I can't say enough about how great this bag is for the Scrambler.
But don't stop reading because this is actually a double review, I put one bag on my scrambler and one on my partner's BMW G310GS. The bag looks and functions just as well on her adventure bike as it does on my heritage. In fact, on her bike, there is room for a tail bag or a Reckless as well, so we're excited to add to the Scout when we get around to the mountain trip we are planning.
In terms of mounting to the bikes, I ordered the SW-Motech SLC carrier and quick-release universal adapter plate (bike and side specific when you order). The combination worked seamlessly on both bikes. Now we have the option to ride with our bags, or take off both the bags and mounting plates, leaving only a minimal carrier.
In summary, the Scout 25 looks fantastic online, and I have been even more impressed with it in use on our bikes. I can say with confidence that it is a great solution for BMW riders both around town and out in the puckerbrush.
These bags installed very easy on my 990 adv. Happy with quality and capacity, they are packed and ready for labor day weekend where I'm doing 1000 miles on colorado in 3.5 days. Will update after the trip as far as durability is concerned.
took a couple of spills on baby head hill and they were unscathed. Very happy with purchase
Just mounted the new racks, holsters, and bags to Kyle, the KTM 790R. Perfect fit, easy mount, sweet to use. Bags are big enough for any trip if careful. Holster is great for hauling firework or groceries or in our case, a cooler full of cold beverages to the race track. Great idea. Thanks Mosko!!!
