Fatty Tool Roll (V2.0)

Options

Roll a Fatty with the Fatty Tool Roll (V2.0)! It fits all the tools you need for an extended ADV trip. Inside there's two handy zippered catchall pockets for oddly shaped items like Loctite and JB Weld, and larger tools like an adjustable wrench, plus a conversion table is printed on the interior clear vinyl pocket. The Tool Roll is built with bomb-proof 1680D Ballistic Nylon fabric, and everything rolls up into a waterproof cover and securely closed with a Mosko 20" Moto Strap, so you can store the Fatty outside your luggage and all your tools will stay dry.

DESIGN

When we first investigated tool storage solutions several years ago, we were initially turned off by the ‘roll,’ even though we were all using them. A tool roll seems so old-school, like something a cowboy would've carried, or a biker gang in the 50s. Surely there's a better, more modern way?

With more research though, we came around. There’s a reason why tool rolls persist. The beauty of a roll versus, say, a bag or box, is that it naturally expands and contracts based on how much stuff is in it, and it conforms to a wide variety of tool shapes and sizes, while still rolling into a tidy package that fits in a stash-spot or external pocket.

With tool rolls, we felt there’d been a ‘race to the bottom’ on price-point and features. There are so many tool rolls already on the market, all with very similar features, and all at the lowest possible prices. Many OEMs even ship a tool roll for free with every bike. So we went a different direction in designing the Fatty and Pinner. We cut zero corners on materials and features, and we hope we created the most awesome tool roll you'll ever own.

Is there another waterproof tool roll out there? If so, we haven't seen it. We offer the Fatty & Pinner Tool Rolls with a highly abrasion-proof, welded-seam, waterproof rain cover. Tools are heavy and hard, and they press and vibrate against everything they touch, so the rain cover's gotta' be tough. This one is tough as nails, and it doubles as a trailside parts tray. If you’re riding in the desert and don’t need the rain cover, no problem: reduce bulk by leaving the rain cover at home and taking only the tool roll itself.

Sliding the roll out of the rain cover, you’ll see lots of tool storage pockets, with webbing straps to hold everything. Unlike traditional tool rolls, however, there’s also a large Velcro flap that traps your tools in place, so your tiniest hex key won’t escape somewhere out in the woods. Inside the flap there’s a zippered mesh pocket for tube patches and tire repair. On the outside of the Fatty, there’s three long pockets for tire irons, which are always kind of a hassle to store.

What about those bulky tools that never fit? Things like vice grips and open-ended wrenches? We added two large zipper pockets to accommodate these, plus spark plugs, JB Weld, sockets, Loctite, and all those other things which you always need but can't find, because they’re somewhere in the bottom of your bag. Next to the two large zipper pockets, we added a clear zipper pocket for documents, an air gauge, or anything else you want to tuck away. It even has a conversion table printed on the interior clear vinyl pocket.

Finally, a REAL tool kit!

I’ve always just brought the KTM OEM tool kit with me and a few other things. Made me feel better but knew I didn’t always have the right stuff. My 2020 KTM 300 XC did not come with a tool kit. So, I started searching and found Mosko Moto. Now I can fit EVERYTHING I need. I pretty much used Tokyo Offroad's tool kit as a guide for what to put in it and now I feel a lot better going on long rides being able to fix my bike and others! Fully loaded the fatty tool tool fits snugly in my camelback mule. I love that its waterproof so I don’t have to dry my tools out after every ride. Thank you so much.

Its ok

The fatty roll is ok but look closely before purchasing. Yes it is very well made, very, quite durable and for the most part useful. Unfortunately the dimensions for the various pockets etc. are not evident in the description and so some tools will not fit. As an example, a 22mm wrench for front axel bolt is 11.5inches long and will not fit in the pouch (see sticking out at bottom of photo). As wrenches go this is not a long one, just long enough to get some leverage on it. As well, socket sets (limited number as you only need a few) that come on the small rack, so that you do not lose them and they are easily grabbable, will fit but nothing else. Finally, the long tire irons will not fit, this I understand, but it would have been nice to have some type of tie, loop, pouch, sleeve, etc. so that the tire irons, yes stick out, but they do not slide around. Finally the water proof bit should be an option, I mean, I do not care if the wrenches get wet. Its not to put on the ground, underneath the job so that screws, sockets, small items (what a mechanic I know once called "drain finders") do not get lost but it should be an option so the price is under the current price.

Roll a fatty for your ride :)

I've been using the roll for a couple of months now and it is proving to be another winner from Mosko. I've been consciously pairing down how many tools I carry as I get to know my bike and this tool roll carries everything I need (most likely more than I need). It is still a fairly large package which might prove difficult to fit somewhere on a long multiday ride, but for day rides and weekend getaways it is almost perfect. The reason I say almost is that I discovered a little hole in the lining of one of the zipper compartments. It's my fault as I've been over stuffing that compartment as I search for a better tool set. I also seem to have a knack for quickly wearing new things out. Today my little metric toolkit arrived so I've been able to put the fatty on a diet.

New Zealand gets Mosko Moto

Motorcycle trip to New Zealand facilitated by my new Scout 60L duffel (https://moskomoto.com/products/scout-60-duffle). Checked the duffel through the airline as baggage full of camping gear and when I arrived strapped it on the back of my rented KTM 1190 R with the Backcountry Cinch Straps and had no problems at all. Rode in the rain several days and everything stayed dry. The strapping and carry handles were perfect and held up strong to all sorts of tugging and torture.

I was able to put a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, collapsible chair, cooking gear, clothes bag, spare shoes and a few other items in the duffel with no issues.

Highly recommended for flying or motorcycling.
