The Alpine 30L Duffle is a lightweight, 100% waterproof roll-top dry bag. Universally mounting to any tail rack with our optional Alpine Cinch Straps , the Alpine 30L Duffle compliments rack-mounted panniers or rackless systems with an additional 30 liters of storage in a minimalist design package. Pair with our Alpine Pannier Kit for a lightweight, high capacity adventure touring setup designed to prioritize weight-saving performance in technical terrain.

DESIGN

The Alpine 30L Duffle has a wide opening, easy access roll-top design that allows ample room to access your packed gear. Constructed from 100% waterproof DWR-coated 420D nylon 66 ripstop and 840D TPU-coated nylon fabric, the Alpine 30L Duffle is robust but lightweight, with reinforced ends/bottom for added abrasion resistance.

The Alpine Duffle's beavertail features premium anodized aluminum Atlas buckles, commonly found on avalanche airbag backpacks. This simple yet tough buckle design is easy to open, latch, and adjust with riding gloves on. The durable aluminum construction withstands the abuses of offroad travel, and is less likely to break and need repair like plastic buckles.

The unique beavertail design has reinforced mesh zipper pockets on one side, and five columns of Hypalon MOLLE webbing on the other, allowing expansion and customization with an assortment of optional MOLLE accessories. The beavertail provides a convenient place to tuck a jacket during the day, or to store wet/dirty things like a rainfly, tarp, or towel.

The integrated backpack straps deploy quickly and easily, allowing you to carry the duffle through airports for fly-to-ride trips, or to pack your gear into hotel rooms on trips. When not in use, the backpack straps stash flat in an external pocket, or can be removed entirely and left at home. Two easy-grab carry handles provide options for hauling, loading, and unloading the duffle in travel scenarios.

The Alpine 30L Duffle universally mounts on any tail rack via cinch strap that securely loop through two pass-throughs on each side of the bag, aiding in secure retention. The pass nylon pass-through loops allow the duffle to stay securely attached in rougher terrain that can cause some tail bags squeeze out of their straps.

Crash Care Program

Awesome, but not the ultimate back pannier

Before this, I used the Backcountry 40, which was extremely durable, both the outer membrane and the inner waterproof layer. I switched to the Alpine 30 because I could fit the same items I had in the Backcountry 40 into a bag that was less bulky on the sides and lighter overall. My must-have now is the Beaver Tail, which I can’t do without on my trips anymore. The Alpine 30 is durable and lightweight; I’ve taken it on a couple of on- and off-road trips and even used it as checked luggage on a flight. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I expected the waterproof membrane to be as durable as the inner layer of the Backcountry, but it’s thinner, so I hope it will hold up over the course of my travels. Also, even though it’s more comfortable than the Backcountry, pulling out the shoulder straps when the pack is fully loaded is often a bit tricky and can give you a whiplash-like jolt to the face if you pull them out too hard. I’m hoping for an updated 35L version; if that happens, I’d say it would be the ultimate back pannier.

Alpine 30L Duffle

I’ve been really impressed with the Alpine 30L Duffle. It’s the perfect size for everyday use—not too big and not too small. The build quality feels excellent, and everything is well made.

One of my favorite features is the waterproof dry bag. It has plenty of space for my gear and keeps everything protected. On top of that, the outer attachment system around the dry bag is very practical. It lets you easily secure extra items like a jacket, sleeping bag, or even a camping chair without taking up space inside the bag.

Overall, it’s a high-quality, versatile duffle that I would definitely recommend.

Haven't used it yet but it's going on a 3 weeks trip to Norway and Sweden soon :)
