Woodsman OTB pant

The pants met all my expectations. I wear a size 34 and the 34 pants fit me perfectly, knee braces have enough room. Top quality materials and finishing. In my opinion, pants that every serious adventure rider must have in his wardrobe. Definitely to recommend!!!

Great pants!

Super comfortable and well thought out. Plenty of room for knee armor and the stretchy fabric is amazing.

Super durable product

Had my first ever mountain excursion. White Mountain Road out of Bishop. Lots of technical uphills which I failed at over and over. Hardly a nick on the pants and none on my body (thankful for the heavy duty PODS knee braces as well-which fit nicely under the pants without tightness or binding) Top notch product

Met Most Expectations Except

Size and Experience - 60 years young / 6'0" / 195lbs / average athletic build. With twenty years of Special Operations service and over fifty years of mountaineering, backcountry skiing, thru-hiking, and worldwide expedition travel, I am, however, relatively new to adventure motorcycle travel.

Quality - 5 Stars - Schoeller material and uncharacteristic quality Bangladesh craftsmanship were a welcome surprise.

Comfort and Fit - 3 Stars - The low "hip hugger" single stitched waistband with adjustable Velcro waistband and design yielded low comfort for my body type. I understand the thought about making them fit through the crotch using the stretch Nylon/Polyester blend so they don't bunch up during dynamic movement while riding, but this causes the single top stitch of the waistband to dig into the ilium on my hips, causing me considerable discomfort during longer outings. In my experience with other brands, a "rollover" waistband that allows stretch of the nylon/polyester material in the hip area would have been a much better design.

Value - 2 Stars - I am thankful that we, the people in the U.S.A., live in a free market capitalism society that allows the constitutional freedom of prosperity through hard work under the law of supply and demand rather than a central government regulating the production of goods, labor, and the marketplace. Everyone's freedom of choice is whether they need the products, services, or supplies associated with their interests. Do I have some of these? Yes, I do. Do I need any of these? No, I don't. I procure what I want by free will and critically discern what I don't need based on my life experience. I commend Mr. Day, Mr. Bryden, the entire Mosko Moto team, and those others who prosper in this marketplace, and thank God I live in this free society to choose what I want or need. At $450.00, I feel there are many comparable and lower-cost alternatives outside of the "Adventure Motorcycle" Industry that would serve the same necessities of these pants for adventure riding and travel.

The Woodsman Over-The-Boot Pant is a technical softshell pant for enduro riding. We re-engineered our In-The-Boot Woodsman and added over-the-boot functionality with full-grain leather panels on the inside of the knee, leg, and Velcro adjustable hem.

It’s just as at home on tight Northwest woods singletrack as it is in the open desert and extended ADV trips. The hybrid design puts a Schoeller waterproof/breathable material on the knees and seat for protection from wet brush, wet seats, and water crossings, while the DWR-coated nylon oxford upper provides excellent breathability for the high mobility of technical enduro riding. The 2022/23 Woodsman has been updated with more room in the knee to accommodate larger knee braces and armor.

There are four vents on the thighs, two cargo pockets for your wallet, phone, trail map, or clip knife, and two hand pockets that are ‘handy’ when you’re off the bike. The pockets all zip closed, so you won’t lose your valuables if you bounce off the trail. It’s either a ‘touring pant you can trail-ride in,’ or a ‘trail-riding pant you can tour in,’ depending on your perspective.

The Woodsman takes design inspiration from ski touring and alpine gear. The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s ‘stretchy.’ Not just in a few small panels, but everywhere. To complement the stretchiness, we articulated the patterns for athletic riding, and for alternating between a seated and standing riding position. The Woodsman Pants are comfortable enough that minimalists can use the Woodsman as their only pair of pants on a multi-day trip.

With the Woodsman, we’re breaking free from the convention that you need to wear waterproof ADV gear all the time. In most sports, when the rain stops the rain gear comes off. With ADV, many riders wear waterproof gear in every type of weather regardless of whether it’s raining or not. Even in the desert with no chance of rain, we see ADVers in head-to-toe waterproof clothes, trying to manage their heat problems in all sorts of creative ways. With the Woodsman, when the rain stops you can take off your rain gear and continue your trip in a stretchy, more breathable, more comfortable pant.

The Woodsman takes a hybrid approach to water management. The thighs and butt are fully waterproof with a 3-Layer Schoeller softshell, while the crotch and calves are membrane-free for maximum breathability. All the seams are taped, and the entire pant is treated with a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) coating, so light water beads up at the surface. There’s just enough water repellency for stream crossings, muddy puddles, dewy brush, and light rain, without causing heat problems on the rest of the ride.

We call the Woodsman a ‘90% pant,’ because 90% of the time it’s exactly what you need. In full-frontal rain, the Woodsman pairs with a packable over-the-boot rain layer like the Rak Overpant.
