Woodsman Enduro Pants OTB are built

I was looking for a rugged riding pant with good style and belt loops that didn’t look like an elastic waist rain pant. I wanted something that I could wear off the bike around town or camp. The Woodsman looked great on paper, but I’ve never used separate knee armor before as I’m primarily a street rider. I’m 5’11” 167 lbs. with 32” inseam. I usually wear 30-31 x 34 jeans or 32 x 32 pants depending. I ordered 32 Tall Woodsman pants as I’d rather have them slightly too long than too short when riding to give my boots better coverage. The fit is great, trim, and more than long enough. When sitting in riding position the cuff is to top of feet. The length is generous so I probably could have used regular length just fine. Knee armor fits easily and the cuff Velcro allows easy fit over boots and ability to snug them up keeping wind and water out. The build quality is absolutely top notch. Easily the best I’ve ever seen. The fabric stretch makes them comfortable and belt loops are strong. Zippers, snaps, vents and Velcro are top of the line. The vents should work well, but being in NY it’ll be a while before I can test them. The 32” waist fits more snug than my 31” waist of typical jeans do even with the waist adjustment all the way out. A 34” waist would probably work for me, but then there might be too much room in hips and thighs. A small improvement would be to add two more snap bases to the waist snap tab a bit past the current ones giving another small fine adjustment without much cost bridging the gap between 32 + 34” sizes. The elastic waist adjustment allows going smaller. In summary these are amazing pants that I look forward to putting many miles on. If you are debating whether to buy these, know you won’t be disappointed in style, construction or materials.

Mosko gear

I have purchased 2 pairs of the woodsman otb pant. Light yet rugged. Fits better than any pair of pants I have used to date. Functional pockets and venting. Have purchased the surveyor jacket. Also very nice and fits well over soft armor. Snug but not tight. Wind resistant. Warm. Does not flap at all during faster sections or riding. I have very much enjoyed using these products and the other pieces of luggage and packs from Mosko.

At this point I have not had enough time on the bike with the pants to provide a thorough review however I can say that the material and workmanship quality are top shelf and I expect these pants to be around for years to come. Will look to update the review after more time on the bike in the pants.

The Woodsman Over-The-Boot Pant is a technical softshell pant for enduro riding. We re-engineered our In-The-Boot Woodsman and added over-the-boot functionality with full-grain leather panels on the inside of the knee, leg, and Velcro adjustable hem.

It’s just as at home on tight Northwest woods singletrack as it is in the open desert and extended ADV trips. The hybrid design puts a Schoeller waterproof/breathable material on the knees and seat for protection from wet brush, wet seats, and water crossings, while the DWR-coated nylon oxford upper provides excellent breathability for the high mobility of technical enduro riding. The 2022/23 Woodsman has been updated with more room in the knee to accommodate larger knee braces and armor.

There are four vents on the thighs, two cargo pockets for your wallet, phone, trail map, or clip knife, and two hand pockets that are ‘handy’ when you’re off the bike. The pockets all zip closed, so you won’t lose your valuables if you bounce off the trail. It’s either a ‘touring pant you can trail-ride in,’ or a ‘trail-riding pant you can tour in,’ depending on your perspective.

The Woodsman takes design inspiration from ski touring and alpine gear. The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s ‘stretchy.’ Not just in a few small panels, but everywhere. To complement the stretchiness, we articulated the patterns for athletic riding, and for alternating between a seated and standing riding position. The Woodsman Pants are comfortable enough that minimalists can use the Woodsman as their only pair of pants on a multi-day trip.

With the Woodsman, we’re breaking free from the convention that you need to wear waterproof ADV gear all the time. In most sports, when the rain stops the rain gear comes off. With ADV, many riders wear waterproof gear in every type of weather regardless of whether it’s raining or not. Even in the desert with no chance of rain, we see ADVers in head-to-toe waterproof clothes, trying to manage their heat problems in all sorts of creative ways. With the Woodsman, when the rain stops you can take off your rain gear and continue your trip in a stretchy, more breathable, more comfortable pant.

The Woodsman takes a hybrid approach to water management. The thighs and butt are fully waterproof with a 3-Layer Schoeller softshell, while the crotch and calves are membrane-free for maximum breathability. All the seams are taped, and the entire pant is treated with a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) coating, so light water beads up at the surface. There’s just enough water repellency for stream crossings, muddy puddles, dewy brush, and light rain, without causing heat problems on the rest of the ride.

We call the Woodsman a ‘90% pant,’ because 90% of the time it’s exactly what you need. In full-frontal rain, the Woodsman pairs with a packable over-the-boot rain layer like the Rak Overpant.
