Woodsman Enduro Pant OTB

High Desert

The Woodsman Over-The-Boot Pant is a technical softshell pant for enduro riding. We re-engineered our In-The-Boot Woodsman and added over-the-boot functionality with full-grain leather panels on the inside of the knee, leg, and Velcro adjustable hem.

It’s just as at home on tight Northwest woods singletrack as it is in the open desert and extended ADV trips. The hybrid design puts a Schoeller waterproof/breathable material on the knees and seat for protection from wet brush, wet seats, and water crossings, while the DWR-coated nylon oxford upper provides excellent breathability for the high mobility of technical enduro riding. The 2022/23 Woodsman has been updated with more room in the knee to accommodate larger knee braces and armor.

(Our new Woodsman IR OTB pant with integrated / removable Rheon™ armor will be available in a new colorway in June 2024. Click the blue "Notify Me" button to be alerted it's in stock.  If you don't see button, click on your size/color and refresh your browser.)

We re-engineered our In-The-Boot Woodsman and added Over-The-Boot functionality with full-grain leather panels on the inside of the knee, leg, and Velcro adjustable hem.

The Woodsman takes design inspiration from ski touring and alpine gear. The first thing you’ll notice is that it’s ‘stretchy.’ Not just in a few small panels but everywhere. To complement the stretchiness, we articulated the patterns for athletic riding and for alternating between a seated and standing riding position. The Woodsman pants are comfortable enough that minimalists can use them as their only pair of pants on a multi-day trip. They work on and off the bike, around the fire, and out for a beer. Dust and dirt are the only things that will give them away as riding pants.

There are four vents on the thighs, two cargo pockets for your wallet, phone, trail map, or clip knife, and two hand pockets that are ‘handy’ when you’re off the bike. The pockets all zip closed, so you won’t lose your valuables if you bounce off the trail. The Woodsman is cut to fit inside your boot for durability and grip and has ample stretchiness for maximum mobility. Depending on your perspective, the Woodsman is a ‘touring pant you can trail-ride in' or a ‘trail-riding pant you can tour in.’

With the Woodsman, we’re breaking free from the convention that you need to wear waterproof ADV gear all the time. In most sports, the rain gear comes off when the rain stops. With ADV, many riders wear waterproof gear in every type of weather, regardless of whether it’s raining or not. Even in the desert with no chance of rain, we see ADVers in head-to-toe waterproof clothes, trying to manage their heat problems in all sorts of creative ways. With the Woodsman, you can take off your rain gear and continue your trip in stretchy, breathable, comfortable pants when the rain stops.

The Woodsman takes a hybrid approach to water management. The thighs and butt are fully waterproof with a 3-Layer Schoeller softshell, while the crotch and calves are membrane-free for maximum breathability. All the seams are taped, and the entire pant is treated with a Durable Water Repellant (DWR) coating, so light water beads up at the surface. There’s just enough water repellency for stream crossings, muddy puddles, dewy brush, and light rain without causing heat problems for the rest of the ride. We call the Woodsman a ‘90% pant,’ because 90% of the time it’s exactly what you need.

Woodsman Enduro Pant OTB

Great pants. I have the in the boot version which I love, except when I experienced multiple water crossings. My boots were soaked after the Onion Creek Trail in Moab. I chose the OTB version for my latest trip and loved them also. Both versions are great as camp pants.

Woodsman Enduro Pants

Nice pants and good quaity, but a bit stiff, hope they will soften after using. I peronally think the pants are to wide at the legs and I miss pockets around the hips and knees for protectors.

For tall people

Have not used them, need to shorten first.
Even regular ones are quite long
Should offer short models like 36/30

Woodsman Enduro OTB - Fit

I love these pants. The zipper vents are really effective on hotter days. My only complaint is the baggyness to them. I wear size 30-31 and ordered a size 30. The waste fits perfectly, but there’s a little too much room in the leg itself. Even once I put them over my Sidi Adv 2’s, the leg from the thigh to mid way down the boot is too bulky. May try the version that fits inside the boot.
