The Basilisk IR Jacket is our waterproof enduro-touring kit. It features removable armor and performance-focused materials, creating a highly breathable, super comfortable ADV jacket built for the challenges of round-the-world motorcycle travel.
The Basilisk IR Jacket is our waterproof enduro-touring kit. This jacket specializes in a balance of breathability, mobility, and protection, with a CE A-rating for abrasion / slide protection, and CE level-2 rating for impact protection with removable RHEON™ armor pads.
The Basilisk IR Jacket combines high-performance premium materials with minimalist design, and packs smaller than a traditional ADV jacket for stashing on your bike when things get hot.
This latest version features refined construction to improve water resistance, updated YKK® Aquaguard PU-coated zippers on vents and pockets, and comes in new Red Rust, Olive Night, and Dark Onyx color options.
Pair with the Basilisk IR Pant to complete the kit.
The Basilisk IR Jacket is designed to handle the challenges of round-the-world travel and long-distance ADV trips, from athletic, technical riding through off-road terrain, to long transfer sections in a wide range of weather conditions.
We took the Basilisk Jacket's proven shell performance and fit, developed over the last seven years, and added integrated / removable (IR) RHEON™ LABS body armor. This makes the Basilisk IR a waterproof, super-breathable, and now more versatile and protected ADV jacket.
At its core, RHEON™ armor is an energy-absorbing superpolymer. Soft and flexible in its natural state, it intelligently stiffens when subjected to force. Made to feel invisible, its designed to flex to the curvature of the body for an adaptive fit. One of the unique elements of RHEON™ is its patented algorithmic design and 3D printing process. The combination makes it both lighter, and more protective. The unique cell packing allows for better impact absorption while allowing air to flow naturally around the rider, making RHEON™ armor the most breathable protection on the market to date.
The included CE Level-2 armor pads are easily removable, allowing the jacket to convert into a lighter-weight and more packable shell for use with separate body armor. (Compared to the previous generation of non-armored Basilisk Jacket, the new integrated armored version fits the same with the pads removed, ready for use with your own separate armor.)
The jackets rip-stop body fabric is a highly abrasion-resistant eVent® Expedition 3-layer, using eVent's proprietary Direct Venting™ technology. Heat and water vapor move directly through the air-permeable membrane, allowing your body to breathe freely and stay comfortable. With a 30,000mm on the water column (100 feet of water pressure), an MVTR of 10,000 g/m/d, .06cfm air permeability, and a DWR coating to keep you dry in wet conditions.
In high abrasion areas like the shoulders, back, and elbows, we feature SuperFabric® ceramic platelets on a 600D waterproof/breathable overlay for added strength. With double-layer fabric, you can crash repeatedly and still stay dry.
We have storm flaps on all external zippers to increase the Basilisk's ability to shed water. Our zippers are top-of-the-line YKK® Aquaguard PU-coated zippers on the vents and pockets, and the main front zipper is a YKK® Vislon® Aquaguard. They won't clog with dust and grime and are easy to operate one-handed with gloves. There are two external hand pockets and two chest pockets, (one external, one internal), with six substantial vents placed strategically for maximum airflow.
On the inside, we eliminated hanging liners entirely, reducing weight, bulk, and heat. In high abrasion areas like the shoulders and elbows, laminated patches protect the tricot lining.
The Basilisk IR Jacket fits true to size.
(The fit of this new armored Basilisk IR Jacket is the same as the previous edition of the Basilisk Jacket shell. Remove the included armor pads for rides with your own separate armor.)

RHEON™ is an energy-absorbing super polymer. Soft and flexible in its natural state, it intelligently stiffens when subjected to force. Designed to flex to the curvature of the body for an adaptive fit like no other. Giving impact protection exactly where it's needed, while maintaining total comfort.
DV Expedition, eVent's burliest waterproof membrane, provides the ultimate in durability and all-weather protection. Delivering dry comfort in the widest range of conditions and providing the greatest waterproof protection without sacrificing air permeability. At its best when the conditions are at their worst.
The Basilisk jacket features flow-through vents to maximize cooling while taking on the most strenuous offroad riding in all weather conditions year round. Chest and side vents allow airflow through the torso and under arm. Arm vents add additional venting to keep you cool on every ride.
SuperFabric® is created by taking a 600d polyester base fabric and infusing tiny hard guard plates into the fabric. These guard plates have small gaps between each plate, keeping the SuperFabric® flexible for maximum comfort and protection.

Ordered this to replace my old wax cotton coat that I have worn for years, even to the Arctic Ocean. Hated to give it up with all the dirt and dust ingrained in wax but decided to try the new jackets. Sure glad I did.
This jacket did great in all temperatures/conditions on a ride from Telluride, Colorado, to Big Bend this May. It snowed going over the mountain passes, and it rained in northern New Mexico, wind howled in west Texas, and it was 107 degrees in Big Bend. The vents did their job in the heat; I have the tan color, so it didn't seem to absorb much of the burning sun, and the vents closed tightly and kept the water out 100% in heavy rain and snow. The waist belt (don't know what else to call it) really helped keep wind out. The side panels worked well in adjusting the size of the jacket when layering. Took a couple of spills (4) in sandy and rocky river beds with no injury (x ego) and no damage to the jacket. Great piece of kit that I highly recommend.
10 stars! Just like everything I’ve bought from Mosko Moto, brilliant!
Used it at a Ride in the bohemian Mountains and it exceeded my expectations in keeping dry and warm. Verry good jacket for middle Europe Adventures.
Several of my riding buddies have the switched to the Basilisk Jacket and love it. I decided to purchase one for myself. I was not disappointed. I wanted something that could ride in all day on a BDR through dirt, mud and hot slab sections. When the rains eventually come, I wanted to be able to zip close the vents and keep riding dry and comfortable. The Basilisk does all that and more. It is a very well made piece of gear and worth the price. I love the numerous large vents, the comfortable neck design, the padding and solid feel of the fabric. It is light enough for riding in all conditions, but solid enough to offer great protection. The styling is spot on as well. Well done Mosko Moto!
I keep looking for that “unicorn” jacket, and this is as close as I’ve come. I have a Klim Badlands, but it is incredibly heavy and pretty miserable in hot weather. The Basilisk is a much simpler design, but that’s kind of what I was looking for. It drafts pretty well in hot weather (though it’s probably not going to replace my mesh on hot days), yet it’s surprisingly good in colder weather. There’s a decent amount of room to layer it with a puffy or liner in cold weather. The new internal armor in the IR line is lighter than in most comparable jackets, and the pockets Mosko designed for that armor is way, way easier for taking armor out or putting it back in that any other design I’ve come across. Note: when I first tried it on, the sleeves seemed ridiculously long. But, once on the bike, they seem like a perfect length. I also like the wide velcro cuffs that you can cinch tight or loose to accommodate gloves of any thickness.
