You’ve all asked who makes the best pannier racks, and we finally have that answer for you. It’s Outback Motortek.
Their racks are beautifully engineered, super rugged, and installation is a breeze. Constructed of mild steel, they bend rather than crack during a crash. In the unlikely event that you do manage to break one, it’s easy to find a shop that can weld mild steel – no matter where in the world you go down.
Mosko’s Outback Motortek racks come finished in long-lasting black powder coat, and the best part is that they’re fully compatible with our Backcountry and Scout panniers.
Solid quality product as usual. Super easy to install and use.
Package was damaged or rather cut open. The 8 pucks for fitting it to the Rack were missing. I wrote 2 emails to MM, but so far (20 days later) no reply. That is dissapointing. Got those pucks from a feiend, who had some spare.
I‘ll give it 5 stars, as soon as somebody replys.
As for my previous bike (tiger 800 xrx), the Outback pannier racks are very sturdy and feels like they can take a punch. Package is complete with everything that you need and a youtube video instruction.
Only downside is that the tolerances are not completely controlled; there is tension on the rack as you mount it. The same happened to me on the tiger 800 rack. Not too bad, but noticable.
Firstly - I would like to say how ecstatic I am with the Mosko bags (offset panniers). I was quite anxious forking out some serious cash for them….however, once I saw the quality…No regrets…these things are so heavy duty and well thought out…Love them!
The only let down….the Motortek racks…these things were not cheap - and the quality is left wanting.
1. When the rack arrived the box was in tatters - (very inadequate packaging and it's a miracle the small bag of fasteners didn’t fall out of the busted box)
2. They are not precisely made. I had to sand off the black paint of one mount and wrestle with it in order to make it fit into machined the recess of the KTM passenger footpeg casting. (right hand side only)
3. The fasteners are soft and I needed to take care not to round the hex heads of the M6 Bolts and also the fasteners are all overly sloppy in all the mount holes. (all the mounting holes are drilled overly large)
4. The frame could me improved by increasing the clearance from exhaust. It clears the by only around 5mm in a couple of places. It wouldn’t take much of a design change to increase this to say 10mm.
On a positive note, they're pretty strong and will get the job done.
Mosko….your team should start producing your own racks to match the performance of your brand ;-)
Hugh quality material, Perfect fit, easy to install, tought build
Great quality, easy to mount, fast on/off release, color fitting nice to KTM frame.
